Wilderness Safaris: Pure luxury in the renovated DumaTau Camp in Botswana

Almost all camps and lodges in Africa are currently closed. However, Wilderness Safaris is taking advantage of the Corona break and is investing in an exclusive premier camp in Botswana, which is due to reopen this year: The popular DumaTau with its eight tent suites is being extensively renovated and the Little DumaTau is being given a new sister camp with four tents.

The two camps are located in the 125,000 hectare Linyanti Wildlife Reserve in the north of the country and offer a lot of space, privacy, seclusion and extraordinary animal encounters with private access to the Zibadianja Lagoon and an exclusive 22 km section along the Savute Canal.

What is unusual about the new design of the tents and public areas are the sculptures of wild dogs and elephants made of wire that was originally used by poachers. Wilderness Safaris wants to raise awareness for nature conservation in Botswana. The suites are also decorated with a “curiosity box” in which small objects related to these two animal species are hidden.

A new wellness center and spa overlooking the Osprey Lagoon were built between the camps. Here, guests can relax by the pool on the shaded deck or enjoy a snack from the deli. A “Star Bed” outdoors offers the opportunity to sleep directly under the African starry sky. The fire deck, which protrudes far into the river over a footbridge, remains a highlight. Guests can also dine outdoors. Dinner on a boat on the Linyanti River is just as possible as a romantic candlelit dinner.
