Hotel Reopening

Wilderness Safaris opens the newly designed Little Kulala Lodge in Namibia

Wilderness Safaris has completely rebuilt its popular Little Kulala Lodge in Namibia and has now reopened. Even after the modernization, this exclusive retreat still celebrates the vastness, splendor and tranquility of the Namib Desert – after all, it is the only lodge in a private nature reserve that offers direct access to the impressive dunes of Sossusvlei.

The only eleven villas of Little Kulala were enlarged in the course of the reconstruction. Now, they are all equipped with a spacious terrace, a lounge area and a private pool. Each villa also houses a roof terrace – the perfect place for a private dinner, sundowner or African tapas. The rollaway bed can be moved outside at any time, transforming the terrace into an outdoor bedroom for romantic nights under the stars.

A new system supplies the camp with 100 percent solar energy. New walkways allow guests to easily move between their villa and the main area. The cozy outdoor fireplace in front of the camp invites to tell stories. The treatments in the new spa are focused on the local tsamma melon. A selection of plant-based dishes with local ingredients like wild spinach, beans or tea strengthen the body from within.

The diverse activities in the 27,000 hectare Kulala Game Reserve include game drives during the day and at night – with breakfast or brunch at sunrise and stops for gin and sundowners on request. Discovery tours in the desert on e-bikes or quads, the ascent of the 300 meter high dunes of Sossusvlei, flights over the Namib in a hot air balloon, cultural evenings around a campfire and lunch in a river oasis are further highlights.

An experience is the discovery tour to “Big Daddy” – one of the highest sand dunes in the world. From here you can also see the clay pan “Dead Vlei”, which is littered with the skeletons of 900 year old camel thorn trees. Rates at Little Kulala Lodge currently start at around EUR 520 per person and night. From January to the end of May 2021 they are around EUR 560 to EUR 580, before rising to around EUR 930 from June to October.
