New Hotel Opening

W Melbourne opens in a spectacular skyscraper on the Yarra River

The W Melbourne welcomed its first guests in the newly built 165-metre high skyscraper “Collins Arch” on 4 February 2021. The two spectacular twin towers, connected by a “sky bridge”, are located directly on the famous Flinders Lane in Melbourne’s central business district, home to numerous fashion designers, chic boutiques and trendy restaurants, bars and cafes – just a few steps away from the Yarra River.

The design of the 294 rooms and 29 suites at the W Melbourne comes from the Australian architecture firm Hachem and was inspired by the newsstands in the neighbourhood, whose history dates back to the 1960s. Floor-to-ceiling windows open up the view of the city skyline. The absolute highlight is the 175 square metre “Extreme Wow Suite” on the top floor of the hotel on level 15 with a private bar and a 40 square metre balcony.

In the all-day restaurant “Lollo”, chef Adam D’Sylva has classic Australian menus served for sharing, while the signature restaurant “Warabi”, with space for only 30 guests, focuses entirely on Japanese specialities with a selection of sake, whisky and beer. Before and after, the cocktail bar “Curious” and the unique “Culprit” – a mix of café, wine bar and delicatessen with a sausage exhibition and vermouth tastings – are recommended.

Of course, the iconic WET deck is a must in any W hotel. At the W Melbourne, it can be found on level 14. Here, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and stylish indoor pool await under a golden roof with a pool bar, DJ booth and huge windows offering fantastic views. The W Melbourne is listed in Rewards Category 6 with Marriott Bonvoy. Flexible rates currently start at the equivalent of EUR 236 per room per night (including taxes and fees).
