W Hotels open new mountain resort in luxury ski resort Aspen

W Hotels conquers the mountains of Colorado: The recently opened W Aspen is the second “W Mountain Escape” after the W Verbier in the Swiss Alps and at the same time the first new luxury hotel in the noble ski resort Aspen for more than 25 years. The direct access to some of the best slopes and powder runs in the world, a breathtaking mountain view and the familiar distinctive design of W Hotels will make the new hotel at the foot of the 3,417-meter high Aspen Mountain a coveted holiday home.

In addition to rustic wood decors, the design also includes typical patterns of the Ute natives and references to the many silver mines and the associated silver boom in the 19th century. The furniture is reminiscent of the decadent 1970s – after all, W Aspen is located at the end of Durant Street, where the famous red light district of the town once flourished.

The place to see and be seen is the “WET Deck”, open all year round and in any weather, with a panoramic view of the mountains, a heated pool, whirlpool, fireplaces, cabanas, bar, dance floor, and DJ desk. The legendary “39 Degrees” après-ski bar in the former Sky Hotel, previously on the site of W Aspen, returns as an underground ultra-lounge cocktail bar.

The hotel has 88 rooms, four WOW suites, one Extreme WOW suite, and eleven residences. They are all equipped with modern Ute furniture, while rustic wooden surfaces reflect the cosy warmth of Swiss chalet architecture. The W MixBar, inspired by a fireplace, is a distinctive element. Selected rooms offer bunk beds that can accommodate up to eight people.

From May to October, the 350 square meter “Strategy Room” serves as a venue for art, fashion and music programmes as well as private events and weddings. In winter, it is transformed into a winter sports shop, where the hotel’s first snowboard edition is rented and sold. Only 40 of the exclusively designed boards were produced – 20 for women and 20 for men.
