Update: transit bans in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan

The options for remaining travelers continue to decline sharply. Singapore and Taiwan have now also banned transit without entry. A change at the airports is no longer possible.

Update: Hong Kong will also stop transit on 25 March:

Transit restrictions – effective from 25 March 2020 (00:00 HKT)

For all passengers transiting through Hong Kong, their onward flight’s scheduled departure time must be before 23:59 on 24 March 2020. From 00:00 on 25 March, all transiting through Hong Kong International Airport will be suspended.

Additionally, all sea-to-air ferry services (Greater Bay Area to Hong Kong) will be suspended. Air-to-sea ferry services (Hong Kong to Greater Bay Area) have been suspended since 01 March 2020

Update: China will also stop transit on 28 March:

Passengers are not allowed to transit or enter China (People’s Rep.) Effective 28 March 2020.

  • This does not apply to nationals of China (People’s Rep.).
  • This does not apply to passengers with a Hong Kong (SAR China) passport or a Macau (SAR China) passport.
  • This does not apply to passengers with a Chinese Taipei (on the cover:
  • Republic of China Taiwan) passport.
  • This does not apply to passengers with a diplomatic, service, courtesy or C visa.
  • This does not apply to passengers with a visa issued after 28 March 2020.
