The Wellem: Luxury boutique hotel in Düsseldorf switches to “Unbound Collection by Hyatt

The luxurious Hyatt House Andreas Quartier in Düsseldorf has never really suited the budget brand “Hyatt House”. Now the Hyatt Hotels Corporation has corrected this mistake and also changed the name: With immediate effect, the boutique hotel is now part of “The Unbound Collection by Hyatt” as “The Wellem”, making it the brand’s first hotel in the German-speaking world – just a few minutes’ walk from the famous Königsallee and the Rhine.

Built in 1913 in neo-baroque style, the palace was originally the seat of the Düsseldorf district and regional court. Today it is a listed building. The new name is intended to remind of Jan Wellem, who together with his wife Anna Maria Luisa from the House of Medici made Düsseldorf a center for culture and fine arts. In homage to him, the house hosts an impressive collection of contemporary art.

The Wellem’s 102 studios and suites are equipped with the latest entertainment technology in the form of Bluetooth speakers and SuitePads, which also enable easy communication with the reception desk. Each room consists of a separate sleeping and living area. The 89 square meter “Terrace Art Suites” on the fifth floor – each with original works by renowned artists – also have access to a private roof terrace.

Six F&B outlets belong to the hotel, which are located in the building itself as well as in the direct neighborhood. In the “MASH”, for example, guests enjoy excellent steaks, in “Franks’s Restaurant” selected dishes of the upscale cuisine are interpreted in a modern way and the “Mutter Ey Café” serves homemade cake. The lobby bar is an ideal location for social evenings in a stylish ambience and with “Franks’s Jazz Club” The Wellem offers a highlight for fans of cultivated music.
