The famous San Domenico Palace in Taormina becomes a Four Seasons Hotel

The San Domenico Palace is one of the most famous hotels in the world. Oscar Wilde, Elizabeth Taylor and DH Lawrence are only three of many big names who have been guests here. Now Four Seasons is taking over the historic luxury residence in the heart of Taormina and will reopen it this year as “San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel” after extensive renovation work.

The location of the San Domenico Palace high above the east coast of Sicily alone is unique: from several terraces you may enjoy a fantastic view of the sea and Mount Etna. The luxury hotel is located in a former Dominican monastery from the 15th century, which has been supplemented by a hotel wing since 1896. The original architecture can still be seen today in the facades, the 111 rooms and suites and in the public spaces.

The hotel includes a beach club and several restaurants and bars – including the “Principe Cerami”, which was crowned with two Michelin stars. A new addition is a spa with seven treatment rooms, an indoor pool and a Turkish hamam. The basis for the takeover of San Domenico Palace by Four Seasons is a cooperation with the Italian hotel developer Gruppo Statuto, which also owns the Four Seasons Milano and the Hotel Danieli in Venice.
