The Chedi Andermatt opens restaurant at 2,300 meters

The Chedi Andermatt announces exciting culinary news: Just in time for the start of the 2019/20 winter season, the Michelin star-awarded hotel restaurant “The Japanese”, headed by Executive Chef Dietmar Sawyere, will receive a top-class offshoot on the local mountain Gütsch – at 2,300 meters above sea level. Throughout the year, 44 seats and a terrace with a further 45 seats will be available to guests.

The restaurant “The Japanese by the Chedi Andermatt” will be located in the immediate vicinity of the Gütsch-Express mountain station. The London architect Christina Seilern is responsible for the construction of the imposing building. An elegant alpine architecture and open fireplaces are intended to create a cosy ambiance, while large window fronts open up views of the Gotthard, the Oberalpass and the Ursern valley.

The Chedi Andermatt was opened in 2013 in the heart of the Swiss Alps. The design of the 123 rooms and suites combines alpine chic with Asian elements. “The Restaurant” (14 GaultMillau points) with its four open studio kitchens combines delicacies from Western and Asian cuisine, while “The Japanese” (1 Michelin star and 16 GaultMillau points) serves authentic Japanese dishes.

A highlight is the 2,400 square meter large “The Spa & Health Club” with ten deluxe spa suites, an exclusive sauna landscape, hydrothermal baths, a 35-meter long indoor pool with glass roof and a heated, 12-meter long outdoor pool with a view of the impressive Alpine scenery. Guests can relax with Asian-inspired treatments using natural products from Tata Harper and Omorovicza.
