New Hotel Opening

St Regis Almasa: Luxury hotel for Egypt’s new administrative capital in the desert

Egypt has a new St Regis Hotel: After the renovation and renaming of the Al Masa Royal Palace built in 2017, the St Regis Almasa has just opened its doors in Egypt’s new administrative capital at the gates of Cairo – in the middle of the desert, but only about 60 kilometres from the centre of the metropolis. Tourists are unlikely to stray here, but the luxury hotel is impressive nonetheless.

A total of 270 rooms, 90 suites, 60 flats and 14 villas are available at the St Regis Almasa. All have a private balcony or terrace and of course offer the brand’s signature butler service. The gastronomic facilities include the Italian “La Sponda” and the “Café Royal” in the lobby, where the typical St Regis tea ritual takes place in the afternoon. Other culinary concepts are to follow.

Outdoor pool with artificial beach

For relaxation, there is an indoor pool and an outdoor pool with an artificial beach. In the “Trio Club House”, a luxurious spa awaits with eight treatment rooms, a Moroccan hamam, a sauna, steam baths and a fitness centre. The 42,000-square-metre congress centre is intended for government events and official state visits, among other things.

The new, as yet unnamed administrative capital will one day be home to 6.5 million people. Numerous office towers, a new airport and the “Iconic Tower” – at 385 metres the tallest building in Africa – are under construction. The largest church in the Middle East with space for 8,200 worshippers and the largest mosque in the country with space for 17,000 worshippers have already been completed. In total, around USD 50 billion are to be invested in the prestigious project of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al Sisi.
