“Soneva Jani Chapter Two”: Maldives resort grows by 27 new pool villas

With “Soneva Jani Chapter Two”, Soneva Jani has opened a new chapter in its just four-year history: With the expansion, the luxury resort in the Noonu Atoll of the Maldives, which opened in 2016, now has 27 additional overwater villas in a class of their own, a new wellness center and three new restaurants. In addition, “Soneva Unlimited” is a completely new way to enjoy your vacation.

New villas with pool

The 27 new overwater villas of “Chapter Two” are among the largest and most luxurious of their kind in the world. They are accessible via a winding jetty at the southern tip of the main island – surrounded by nothing but the endless blue of the ocean. Each villa offers an expansive terrace and private pool – and some also feature an outdoor pool and slide directly into the lagoon.

The one-bedroom and two-bedroom villas also feature a portable roof over the master bed, which provides a view of the star-filled sky at night. The existing three- and four-bedroom island villas are also part of “Chapter Two” from now on.

Three new restaurants

“Chapter Two” also expands the culinary highlights of the Soneva Janis. Already in October 2020, the restaurant “Overseas” by Swedish chef and restaurateur Mathias Dahlgren opened. In an informal atmosphere directly above the lagoon, he has lunch and dinner menus served with plant-based and pescetarian dishes. The ingredients come fresh from Soneva Jani’s organic gardens or the waters surrounding the resort.

“So Wild by Diana von Cranach” is a completely vegan restaurant set amidst the organic gardens of Soneva Jani, where the renowned raw food chef and cookbook author revives traditional recipes from Southeast Asia and Indonesia. When not served raw, ingredients are prepared using culinary techniques such as steaming, short frying, and dehydrating.

The third culinary innovation at Soneva Jani is “So Primitive”: Around a central fireplace directly on the beach, dishes are roasted, grilled, baked in salt crust, and cooked over coals in cauldrons and clay pots. The menu includes fresh seafood, meat and vegetable dishes.

The new wellness centre

The new 1,742-square-metre Soneva Wellness Centre on Soneva Jani’s picturesque South Beach is designed to combine traditional Ayurvedic techniques with state-of-the-art therapies, but will not be ready until the second quarter of 2021. Plans include two therapy rooms and three outdoor treatment pavilions, a dedicated Ayurveda clinic, a fitness area, an open-air yoga pavilion and a wellness boutique.

Soneva Unlimited

Last but not least, Soneva Jani has created the new offer “Soneva Unlimited” especially for the villas of “Chapter Two”. All meals in the bars, restaurants and in-villa dining are already included in the price – as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, visits to dining experiences with Michelin-star chefs, wines from the “Soneva Unlimited List”, various experiences on the island, diving in the ocean, activities for the children and spa treatments.

In addition, a dedicated barefoot butler is available to guests, Seaplane transfers, a daily laundry service and daily refilling of the mini bar in the villa are also part of the package. Rates for a one-bedroom overwater villa in “Chapter Two” including “Soneva Unlimited” start at EUR 2,942 per night in the mid-season.
