The North Island Resort in the Seychelles is the first private island destination to join the Marriott Luxury Collection. The exclusive retreat is 30 kilometers from the main island of Mahe and can be reached by a short helicopter flight or a one-hour boat trip. Operational responsibility remains with the travel and lifestyle community ASMALLWORLD.
Once a coconut plantation, the granite island is now a protected area for endangered species. Bright beaches and clear blue sea greet nesting sea turtles. Aldabra giant tortoises and rare Mahé-eyed birds live in the palm forests. The only eleven villas – ten “Beachfront Villas” with 450 square meters each and the “Villa North Island” with a proud 750 square meters – were built from local materials and perfectly combine luxury and simplicity.
The “Piazza” forms the framework for a romantic evening by candlelight. Michelin-starred chef Akira Back serves changing menus here every day, using the freshest ingredients from land and sea. The “Sunset Beach Bar” offers tapas and cocktails at sunset. There is also a sophisticated menu in the villas, which also includes local Creole curry dishes – supplemented by a generously stocked pantry.
Guests can go snorkeling, diving, fishing, kayaking, paddling, surfing, or boating in the sunset on North Island. Individual excursions to the coral reefs are also possible. The island with its four pristine beaches can be explored on foot, by bike or by private buggy. The children have their own “Beach Buddy Program”.
Depending on the season, the rates for a “Beachfront Villa” are between EUR 5,500 and 6,500 per night with breakfast for up to four people or two adults and three children. There are also 21 percent taxes and fees. With half board the price increases by EUR 400 and with all inclusive by EUR 1,600. The exclusive “Villa North Island” can be booked all year long for EUR 8,900 to 10,500 per night, depending on the desired catering.
