Seven historic houses – one hotel: Four Seasons opens in Madrid

It was a mega-project that required a lot of patience: over a period of eight years, seven historic buildings in the heart of Madrid were restored with the greatest effort and combined to form an extraordinary luxury hotel. Now the work has been completed and the Four Seasons Hotel & Private Residences Madrid, last announced for May, has finally celebrated its opening. It is the first hotel of the luxury brand in Spain.

The location at the famous Centro Canalejas – between Puerta del Sol and Barrio de las Letras – is ideal in any case: The Retiro Park with its impressive glass palace is just around the corner and with the Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, three of the best museums in the world are in the immediate vicinity. This will soon be joined by “La Galería de Canalejas” as a new shopping address with dining options, which will be accessible directly from the hotel.

The highlight among the 200 rooms and suites of the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid is the “Royal Suite” with double ceiling height and many historical details. On the top floor of the hotel, top chef Dani Garcia serves fine Andalusian cuisine in his restaurant “Dani” – from breakfast, lunch and dinner to tapas with Spanish wine at a later hour. Tables are available inside and outside all year round.

Traditional local dishes as well as cakes and pastries await you in “El Patio” – for those in a hurry also as takeaway. In the future, the offer is to be supplemented by the “Isa” gastro bar, where Asian-inspired tapas are served with various cocktail creations. Alternatively, guests can also use the round-the-clock in-room dining, which can be ordered contactlessly via the Four Seasons App.

With 1,400 square meters, the four-story spa is the largest in Madrid. Although only the fitness center is currently open, the eight treatment rooms, the steam bath, the sauna, a relaxation room, a salon and a spa boutique are to follow shortly. In addition, there is a 14-meter-long indoor pool with glass walls. Refreshments with a view of the city are available on the adjacent sun terrace with bar on the eighth floor.
