New Hotel Opening

San Domenico Palace in Taormina reopens as Four Seasons Hotel

Oscar Wilde, Elizabeth Taylor and DH Lawrence are just three of the many big names who have stayed at the San Domenico Palace. At the beginning of July, after extensive renovation work, the historic luxury domicile in the heart of Taormina will reopen its doors as the Four Seasons Hotel, just in time for its 125th birthday. Reservations are now possible.

The location of the “San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel” high above the east coast of Sicily is unique: several terraces offer a dreamlike view of the sea and the volcano Etna. The luxury hotel is housed in a former Dominican monastery from the 14th century, which has been complemented since 1896 by a hotel wing in Italian Art Nouveau style (today’s Grand Hotel Wing).

Infinity pool, beach club and a new spa

The original architecture can still be seen on the facades and in the rooms. In addition to 111 rooms and suites, some of which feature private terraces and plunge pools, the hotel has an infinity pool, a beach club and several restaurants and bars – including the “Anciovi” by the pool, the “Rosso” with its spectacular terrace and the “Principe Cerami”, where executive chef Massimo Mantarro invites guests on a culinary journey through Sicily.

A new addition is a spa with seven treatment rooms, an indoor pool and a haman. For the reopening, the San Domenico Palace has launched a special offer that includes a 20 percent discount on the room rate and breakfast for two people – valid until November 2021 with a minimum stay of two nights. Rates for the cheapest room thus start at EUR 940 per night in summer and at EUR 690 in autumn.
