One&Only Desaru Coast: pure luxury on a secluded beach in Malaysia

One&Only has opened its first beach resort in Asia: The new One&Only Desaru Coast is located on the tranquil south-east coast of Malaysia on 128 hectares of unspoilt nature – framed by lush rainforests and a white sandy beach. The hideaway can be reached in two hours by car from Singapore or in one hour from Johor airport.

A modern interpretation of the traditional Malaysian village (“Kampung”) awaits guests, designed by Kerry Hill Architects from Singapore. There is a choice of 42 junior suites of 105 square metres and two grand suites of 300 square metres, all with private pools. They are crowned by the 1,500-square-metre “Villa One” with four bedrooms, a private spa, a garden and a 27-metre pool.

The varied culinary offer ranges from Mediterranean dishes in the “Ambara” restaurant to a contemporary tempura in the Japanese “Hoshi” and the specialities of Malaysia in the “Essential” – right next to the 50-metre infinity pool. Products from local farmers and ingredients from the resort’s own “Chef’s Garden” are used for the preparation.

At the open-air bar “Dusky Monkey”, a selection of creative appetisers awaits, served with cocktails, regional rum, selected gins and fine whisky. The “Ember Beach Club” is designed as a central meeting place with live music. Renowned chef Andrew Walsheinem has a first-class selection of meat and fresh seafood served here, grilled over an open fire.

Golfing at the 9-hole Els Club, a “One&Only Spa by Chenot” with fitness centre, Pilates studio and yoga pavilion, tennis, hobie cat sailing, stand-up paddling, jet skiing and kite surfing round off the One&Only Desaru Coast’s offerings. For younger guests, there is the “KidsOnly Club”. A 105-square-metre Junior Suite can currently be booked from the equivalent of EUR 838 per night (including taxes and fees).
