One minute of free fall at 200 km/h: New skydiving programme at Kandima Maldives

Put on the jumpsuit, put on the goggles, climb into the plane and experience the most adrenaline-filled moment of your life with one minute of freefall from around 3,600 metres – including landing on a beach in the Maldives: The Kandima Maldives has launched a new skydiving programme in collaboration with Skydive Maldives.

The adventure begins at Dhaalu Airport, which can be reached from Kandima Maldives in around 20 minutes by boat. Here, guests take off aboard a specially modified seaplane to an altitude of around 3,600 metres. Tied to an experienced skydiver, they then descend into the depths in tandem. After a one-minute free fall at a speed of up to 200 km/h, the parachute opens – and five minutes later the guests land safely on the beach.

Prices for a tandem skydive range from USD 594 per person without camera to USD 900 with handheld and outdoor camera (plus taxes). Appointments are available daily between 8am and 5:30pm, weather permitting. Group and solo skydives are also available. An extra USD 55 per person is charged for transfers from Kandima Maldives to Dhaalu Airport.

“Everything but ordinary” is the motto of Kandima Maldives, which opened in 2017. Although the resort “only” has four stars, it scores points with the longest pool in the Maldives, among other things. On the three-kilometre-long island in the Dhaalu Atoll, guests stay in 274 comfortable studios and villas.

Special gems are the “Ocean Pool Villas”, which have a private pool and were built directly along the waterline. But you can also feel good in the “Aqua Villas” above the sea with a whirlpool on the terrace and in the “Beach Villas”, which are available with and without a pool. They are also equipped with an open-air bathroom that puts most five-star resorts in the shade.

In addition to ten restaurants and bars, the Kandima Maldives offers the largest Kids Club in the Maldives, a fitness and yoga studio and a water sports centre on the house reef. The island can be reached by a 30-minute flight from Male to Dhaalu Airport. Rates for two people currently start at EUR 215 per night in a “Sky Studio”, at EUR 404 in an overwater villa and at EUR 483 in an “Ocean Pool Villa” – each plus 25 percent taxes and fees, but with half board.
