Record flight

New longest domestic flight in the world

The current travel situation worldwide entails some special measures. So there is a new longest domestic flight in the world at short notice.

Flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle or Paris Orly to Papeete, Tahiti (French Polynesia) are normally operated via Los Angeles or San Francisco. The route is operated by Air France, Air Tahiti Nui and French Bee.

However, due to the current US entry requirements for Europeans, the flight will in future be operated via Vancouver (Canada) or via Point-a-Pitre (Guadeloupe, French overseas department). However, Air Tahiti Nui flew the route nonstop once on 15 March. The direct distance between the two airports is 9,765 miles, making it not only the longest domestic flight in the world, but also the longest scheduled flight. The only controversial issue is whether Qantas holds the record with the 10,573-mile London – Sydney nonstop flight of 2019. However, there were only test passengers on board, this was not an official scheduled flight.

The top 5 longest flights worldwide also include:

  • Singapore – Newark vv. with Singapore Airlines (9,534 miles)
  • Doha – Auckland vv. with Qatar Airways (9,032 miles)
  • London – Perth vv. with Qantas (9,009 miles)
  • Dubai – Auckland vv. with Emirates (8,824 miles)
