New in Montenegro: One&Only Portonovi opens in the Bay of Kotor

The opening of the new One&Only Portonovi in Montenegro was actually already announced for July 2020. But now its time has finally come: One&Only’s first resort in Europe will welcome its first guests on 21 March 2021 in the Bay of Kotor – close to the coastal town of Herceg Novi and only 50 minutes from Tivat Airport or one hour from Dubrovnik.

The architecture of the One&Only Portonovi reflects the style of old Venetian palaces with porticoes, terracotta roofs and extensive gardens. The resort also has eleven pools and a private beach. Guests can explore the region’s waters on one of the yachts at the D-Marin Portonovi Marina, which has 238 berths.

Villas with pool and a spa by Chenot

The 113 rooms, suites and villas feature open fireplaces for cooler evenings, bedroom-sized bathrooms and floor-to-ceiling windows and terraces. The “Suite One” also offers a private wine cellar, which guests can stock with a personal selection of 268 bottles. The three-bedroom “Villa One” and two-bedroom “Villa Two” are surrounded by private gardens with private pools and sunset views.

The “Chenot Espace Wellness Centre” is designed to help guests understand what makes their bodies age and what paths they can take to positively influence performance and well-being. Facilities include hydrotherapy and cryotherapy facilities, a sauna, a hammam, a steam bath, an indoor pool and relaxation areas.

Southern Italian and Asian cuisine

In the “Sabia” restaurant, star chef Giorgio Locatelli serves southern Italian cuisine in Riviera style. The “Tapasake Club” presents itself as a relaxed pool club that indulges with modern, pan-Asian fusion cuisine in tapas style and a sake bar. “La Veranda” celebrates Montenegrin cuisine, while the “Caminetti Bar” in the lobby offers sweeping views of the terrace, garden and sea.

Leisure activities available at One&Only Portonovi range from tennis on two floodlit courts, a fitness centre with personal training sessions, scenic running tracks and yoga classes overlooking the sea, to yacht or speedboat excursions along the Adriatic coast, scuba diving and sailing courses. In addition, several world heritage sites, national parks and hidden beaches await discovery.
