Nature Eco Residences: New luxury hotel on the crater rim of Santorini

Exceptional accommodation opened on Santorini: For the new Nature Eco Residences Santorini, a former mining settlement on the crater rim near the ancient city of Akrotiri was converted into a hotel with 15 suites at great expense. Coco-Mat managing director Kostas Maltezos is behind the project. He also owns the sister hotel Coco-Mat Eco Residences Serifos on the small Cycladic island of Serifos.

Clear white, concrete, stone and wood characterize the architecture – combined with the straight lines and smooth curves so typical of the Cyclades. The rooms are kept in warm earth tones. Handmade pine, teak and chestnut furniture combine with carefully selected vintage objects found in Santorini and Athens.

The rooms are at least 30 square meters in size and all overlook the caldera and the sea. Some have balconies or patios. The 60 square meter infinity residences are built directly into the rocks and resemble a cave. They have a bedroom, a bathroom and a private outdoor hot tub. It goes without saying that all rooms are equipped with the famous Coco-Mats mattresses.

In the centrally located “Social Outdoor Center”, a multidisciplinary wellness program with yoga, meditation and discussions on well-being is offered. The panoramic pool on the crater rim offers a dramatic view of the Aegean Sea. In the restaurant, head chef Yiannis Liokas serves refined Greek dishes that focus on the ingredients of the region.

The Nature Eco Residences not only offers luxury and a relaxed life with lots of privacy, but also organizes sailing tours, wine tasting, vineyard tours, horseback riding, water sports and much more. A day trip to the Caldera Islands or a visit to the excavations in Akrotiri is also recommended. Here is one of the most important prehistoric settlements in the Aegean.
