Mandarin Oriental secures one of the best hotels in Saudi Arabia

Mandarin Oriental will take over the management of the Al Faisaliah Hotel in Riyadh – the capital of Saudi Arabia – in the first quarter of 2021. After a comprehensive renovation of the rooms and public areas during ongoing operations, the luxury hotel is to be renamed “Mandarin Oriental Al Faisaliah, Riyadh” at the end of 2021.

Opened 20 years ago, the Al Faisaliah Hotel forms part of the Al Faisaliah Center designed by Foster & Partners and is considered one of the best hotels in the city. Thanks to its perfect location in the central business district, the most important government buildings, shopping facilities, restaurants and cafés are in the immediate vicinity. 321 rooms and suites await the guests. Adam Tihany Design from New York was commissioned with its redesign.

The “Al Faisaliah Spa” is a retreat only for women with an indoor pool, treatment rooms, steam baths and a sauna. A separate wellness area is available for men. The absolute highlight among the restaurants is “The Globe” in the spectacular golden sphere of the Al Faisaliah Tower, which is directly connected to the hotel. Almost at the top of the country’s first skyscraper, modern European cuisine is served with a breathtaking panoramic view of the city.

There is one catch, however: The Al Khozama Company has just begun the complete reconstruction of the Al Faisaliah District (see last photo at the end of this article). The mega-project is expected to cost the equivalent of more than half a billion US dollars and will not be completed until 2024 at the earliest. Until then, the Mandarin Oriental Al Faisaliah, Riyah will therefore be in the middle of one of the largest construction sites in Saudi Arabia – even if the hotel is not directly affected by the work.
