New Hotel Opening

Mandarin Oriental Madrid reopens after three years of renovation

Ernest Hemingway, Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly, Haile Selassie, Mata Hari and Ava Gardner were just a few of the many celebrities this legendary house has welcomed in its 110-year history. Now the Mandarin Oriental Ritz in Madrid has reopened its doors after more than three years of renovation.

The Mandarin Oriental Group acquired the hotel, which opened in 1910, from Belmond in 2015 for EUR 122 million. In 2018, renovation work began, which cost another EUR 80 million. But the result is impressive: The interiors present themselves in a new, spectacular design, while the Belle Époque character of the original buildings by César Ritz has been preserved in all its splendour.

103 luxury rooms and suites

The Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid now has 103 rooms and 53 suites. These include two suites in the towers on the top floors, as well as a Royal Suite and a Presidential Suite with views of the Museo Nacional del Prado. This view is also offered by the ballroom and function rooms for weddings, private dinners and celebrations, which have been restored to their former glory.

The five restaurants and bars managed by Spanish three-star chef Quique Dacosta include the gourmet temple “Deessa” with unique tasting menus, the tapas restaurant “El Jardín del Ritz” in the hotel garden and the “Palm Court” under the characteristic glass roof, which can now be admired again for the first time after more than 80 years. A champagne bar and the cocktail bar “Pictura” round off the offer.

The first spa after 110 years

For the first time in its 110-year history, the hotel also offers wellness experiences for body and soul. Mandarin Oriental is cooperating with The Beauty Concept – one of Spain’s leading wellness experts. The new spa retreat includes an indoor pool, a vitality pool, experience showers, a steam sauna and a fitness centre.
