Luxury on Gran Canaria: Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia welcomes guests again

With the lifting of the German travel warning for the Canary Island, the Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia on the southern tip of Gran Canaria has also reopened its doors after a seven-month break. The five-star hotel in Maspalomas is the only member of “The Leading Hotels of the World” on the island – and one of only two hotels of the Spanish category “Gran Lujo” (GL).

The location alone is extraordinary: embedded in a more than 100-year-old palm grove, the Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia is only a few meters away from the famous sandy beach of Maspalomas with its high dunes.  The 94 rooms and suites are distributed in two-story villas around the pool and gardens. Their design with cheerful and warm color accents was created by the renowned interior designer Alberto Pinto. The highlight is the Presidential Suite with its 400 square meter garden including a whirlpool.

The chef is Wolfgang Grobauer, who has been awarded several Michelin stars in his career – among others in his Hamburg restaurant “Cölln’s Austernstuben”. He combines a Mediterranean cuisine with local influences and relies above all on high-quality and fresh products from the region, which can usually be enjoyed with sunshine thanks to the large outdoor terrace.

The Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia is part of the owner-managed hotel group Seaside Collection, which was founded by Theo Gerlach in the 1970s and today comprises eleven resorts and hotels. The Finolhu in the Maldives is part of the collection as well as, for example, Los Jameos Playa in Lanzarote, the Aalernhüs Hotel & Spa in St. Peter-Ording, the SIDE in Hamburg and the Gewandhaus in Dresden.
