Korean Air has become the eleventh airline to receive a 5-star rating from Skytrax. It is of course debatable to what extent Skytrax’s rankings match reality, but on the whole the awards are rarely far from reality.

In addition to Korean Air, the following airlines are currently awarded the 5-star seal:
- All Nippon Airways (ANA)
- Asiana Airlines
- Cathay Pacific
- EVA Air
- Garuda Indonesia
- Hainan Airlines
- Japan Airlines (JAL)
- Lufthansa
- Qatar Airways
- Singapore Airlines
If a takeover of Asiana Airlines by Korean Air does indeed take place, the number of 5-star airlines would drop to ten again.
