New Hotel Opening

Kempinski Palace Engelberg welcomes its first guests in the Swiss Alps

After a construction period of around five years, the new Kempinski Palace Engelberg has celebrated its opening as the first international five-star superior hotel in the largest winter and summer holiday destination in central Switzerland. Awaiting guests are 129 rooms and suites with a fantastic view of the breathtaking mountain landscape – only about 40 minutes by car from Lucerne.

For the project, a new building was added to the listed Grandhotel Winterhaus, which opened in 1904, seamlessly bringing the architecture of the Belle Epoque into the present. Tile mosaics, marble, coffered ceilings, chandeliers and the niches in the bedrooms recall the tradition-rich past. At the same time, wool, wicker, wood grains, copper, and antique brass add a very special touch.

Unique rooftop spa with infinity pool

Relaxation is offered in the 880 square metre Rooftop Spa with selected massages and treatments, a unique infinity pool, lounging areas, and a relaxation room with an open Himalayan salt stone fireplace. Culinary variety is provided by the “Wintergarden”, “The Palace Bar” with cigar lounge and the “Cattani Restaurant” with its summer terrace, which focuses entirely on regional and seasonal products.

The Kempinski Palace Engelberg is located directly next to the spa gardens and is only a few minutes’ walk from the railway station, the Engelberg monastery and the mountain railways. From Zurich airport it takes around 75 minutes by car or train to Engelberg. With the current opening special, room rates start at CHF 610 (approx. EUR 558) per night in summer and CHF 520 (approx. EUR 476) in autumn – both including breakfast and upgrade.
