Jumby Bay Island: Private island off Antigua celebrates its reopening

Jumby Bay Island has opened its doors again after a long corona break. The car-free, 120-hectare private island with its seven-kilometer coastline is located just two miles off Antigua and is considered one of the most beautiful places in the Caribbean – with shining coral reefs, white sandy beaches and an extraordinary luxury resort of the Oetker Collection.

After extensive renovation, Jumby Bay Island has been presenting itself in a new look since 2019. This applies to the 28 beach suites, the 14 villas with their own pools and the 22 private residences, but also to the “veranda” which forms the heart of the resort. Here you will find a lounge and the Italian restaurant “Osteria La Veranda” directly on the beach. Fine dining is offered in the elegant “Estate House”. In the “1830 Bar”, a traditional rum punch is tempting – or Taittinger is served directly on the terrace.

In the likewise newly designed wellness area of Jumby Bay Island, several saunas, a pool and five treatment rooms are available. Lush palm trees provide shade around the infinity pool on the beach, where the water sports center is also located. The Sailing Academy allows beginners and advanced sailors to enjoy the excellent conditions with strong trade winds and calm waters on site.

A Beachside Suite on Jumby Bay Island can be booked in December from approximately USD 3,000 per night including taxes and fees. The price includes all meals and drinks around the clock (with cocktails, wines and champagne), the water sports activities, snorkeling excursions, sunset yacht trips, rum tasting, cooking classes and a children’s program. After landing in Antigua, guests are transferred to the island by a VIP transfer.
