Phnom Penh has a new luxury hotel: with 247 rooms – including 43 suites – the just-opened Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh is the largest property of a global brand in the capital of Cambodia. Ideally located in the heart of Doun Penh’s cultural and business district, the Royal Palace, the National Museum, and the banks of the Mekong River are just a few minutes’ walk away.
A carefully restored colonial villa from the early 20th century with wooden shutters, archways and a terracotta-tiled roof serves as the hotel’s entrance. Behind it is the newly constructed 14-storey main building, whose interior was designed by SCDA Architects from Singapore and PIA Interior from Thailand. The rooms, at least 30 square metres in size, feature wooden floors, 65-inch TVs and marble bathrooms.
Guests of the Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh staying on the tenth floor have access to the Regency Club Lounge, where they will find check-in and check-out services, daily breakfast, evening appetisers and complimentary drinks, as well as panoramic views of the city with indoor or outdoor seating.
Open all day, the Market Café Restaurant & Lounge serves breakfast, afternoon tea and à la carte dishes in a light-filled atrium. The absolute highlight of the establishment, however, is the rooftop “FiveFive Rooftop Restaurant & Bar”, which serves locally sourced meat, seafood, cocktails as well as DJ performances to a breathtaking view of the Royal Palace, the Mekong River and the city skyline.
Two old-world style bars – “Metropole Underground” with live music and local beer varieties and “The Attic” with cocktails and Grand Cru wines in the colonial house – complete the culinary offer. In addition, the Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh has a spa with Himalayan salt room and steam room, a 22-metre infinity pool, and a gym with personal trainer.
