Hyatt expands: Three boutique hotels in Sweden switch to JDV brand

Hyatt has signed a franchise agreement for three boutique hotels in Sweden: Story Hotel Riddargatan and Story Hotel Signalfabriken in Stockholm as well as Story Hotel Studio Malmö will be the first properties of the Hyatt brand JDV (Joie de Vivre) in Europe. They will retain their names as well as their individual character with a modern, Scandinavian design and strong local roots.

Industrial design in Stockholm

With its 83 rooms, Story Hotel Riddargatan is considered one of the first boutique hotels in Stockholm. Its industrial design recalls the history of the building, which used to be an apartment complex with a hairdressing salon and garages. The hotel is centrally located in the Östermalm district and has a restaurant called “Ling Long”, which specialises in Southeast Asian cuisine.

A hotel under monument protection

Story Hotel Signalfabriken is located in the small town of Sundbyberg just outside Stockholm. In a listed building that used to serve as a fire station and town hall, 83 individually designed rooms, a bar and a restaurant where DJ sessions are held regularly await. Guests can look forward to a cosy small-town atmosphere, but can still reach Stockholm’s city centre lines in less than ten minutes by public transport.

The highest roof terrace in Malmö

Story Hotel Studio Malmö offers 95 rooms that have been creatively and playfully designed. With its waterfront location in Universitetsholmen and close proximity to Malmö Central Station, guests can easily get to the city or even Copenhagen, which is only a 35-minute train ride away. The Kasai in the Sky restaurant and cocktail bar serve food and drinks on Malmö’s highest rooftop terrace overlooking the sea and city skyline.

With the three Story Hotels and Hotell Reisen in Stockholm opening in 2020, there are now four Hyatt hotels to choose from in Sweden. The JDV brand currently consists of only 16 independent properties – 15 in the US and one in Beijing. The three story hotels in Sweden will be available through Hyatt’s booking channels from 15 April 2021. Then, members of the World of Hyatt will also be able to collect and redeem points here.
