Grand Hotel Geneva is taken over by Fairmont

Kempinski loses the Grand Hotel Geneva in Switzerland: From January 2020, the luxury hotel on the shores of Lake Geneva will be taken over by the Accor luxury brand “Fairmont Hotels & Resorts”. With the change of the operator, the owner Le Palace Genève SA has also announced a major renovation of the house. The conversion work should begin in early 2021.

Grand Hotel Geneva – 412 rooms

The Grand Hotel Geneva has 412 rooms – including 33 suites and 14 apartments. The 110-square-meter Presidential Suites offer sweeping views of the lake and Mont Blanc through floor-to-ceiling windows. They have a master bedroom, a marble bathroom, separate living and dining areas and a guest bedroom. Some also have a balcony.

The “Bel Horizon Suite” with 120 square meters on the roof of the hotel and the “Cologny Suite” with 150 square meters on the sixth floor are even more spacious. Both are directly accessible via private lifts from the reception and underground car park. The absolute highlight, however, is the “Geneva Suite”: With an area of 1,080 square meters on two floors, it is the largest free-standing suite in Europe.

Culinary offer

Three gourmet restaurants, a spa, a fitness center, a shopping gallery with numerous luxury boutiques and the largest indoor pool in Geneva complete the offer of the Grand Hotel Geneva. The renovation, commissioned by the well-known architect Jean Nouvel, focuses on the façade, public areas and more energy efficiency. Fairmont already operates the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace on Lake Geneva. In total, the portfolio currently comprises 77 hotels in 29 countries.
