Finnair is introducing a Business Class Light fare without checked baggage

At Finnair, the fare structure in Business Class is changed. The previous Business Saver and Business levels will then become Business Classic and Business Flex (tickets that have already been booked will be reclassified accordingly), and a new Business Light fare will be added below the Classic level. This should initially be available for flights from autumn 2020 within Europe and from Europe to Asia.

The main difference is that the light fares cannot be changed or canceled, not even for a fee. In addition, checked baggage is no longer included. So if you book the cheapest Finnair Business Class fare from Europe to Asia in the future, you only have hand luggage included. However, this continues to be just as lavish as in the other Business Class fares: two suitcases each with 8kg plus a personal item. In this respect, the change is likely to be bearable. With Finnair or oneworld frequent flyer status, you can continue to enjoy free checked baggage.

Unlike the new low-cost Emirates Business Class fares that were introduced in mid-2019, lounge access is still included. The mileage credit will change for the Finnair Plus program, details of which are yet to be confirmed. It is not yet clear whether and to what extent the credit will change in other oneworld frequent flyer programs.
