Cambodia: Wyndham opens five-star hotel on Sihanoukville beach

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has opened its first international five-star hotel in Sihanoukville – a tranquil town on the coast of Cambodia with a population of 90,000, popular mainly with Asian tourists. The new Howard Johnson Plaza by Wyndham Blue Bay Sihanoukville – that’ s the complete name – is part of the “Howard Johnson by Wyndham” brand and is located directly on the well-known Independence Beach, which is about one kilometre long.

There are 522 rooms and suites with city or sea views spread over the 36 floors of the futuristic building. They feature high-quality beds, marble bathrooms and rain showers. Some also have a whirlpool on the balcony. The ultimate in luxury is the 200-square-metre loft-style Presidential Suite.

The “Andaman Sea” restaurant, open all day, serves dishes from Sichuan, Canton and Hunan as well as international specialities. Those staying on the club floors of the Blue Bay Sihanoukville can use the Club Lounge. Breakfast is served here in the morning and complimentary cocktails and canapés in the evening. An outdoor pool with panoramic views, a spa and a fitness centre complete the facilities.

Last but not least, Blue Bay Sihanoukville is directly connected to the largest shopping centre in the region and a casino, while the soft sand of the still barely built-up Independence Beach is only a few steps away. Along the coast of Sihanoukville and on the offshore islands, there are also many other dream beaches lined with palm trees. Sihanouk International Airport is about 26 kilometres from the hotel.
