Berlin Marriott Hotel with 378 newly designed rooms and suites in the Bauhaus style

The renovation of the rooms, suites and corridors in the Berlin Marriott Hotel on Potsdamer Platz took five months. Now guests can look forward to an elegant atmosphere in a modern interpretation of the Bauhaus style. The typical interplay of tradition and modernity is not only reflected in the choice of materials, fabrics and colors, but also in the focus on the technical equipment.

Reduced, clear shapes and contrasting, warm colors dominate the entrance and living area. This combination creates the stylish ambience of a modern studio with homely retro elements. The center of each room is the so-called “floating platform bed” – inspired by the then new support structures of the Bauhaus pioneers around Walter Gropius.

The modern carpet is based on the Bauhaus representative and textile artist Anni Albers and has a graphic, abstract pattern. Geometrically shaped tables and armchairs, lamps with an iconic, spherical frosted glass shade and industrial materials such as glass, metal and wood in combination with voluminous upholstery in the form of a comfortable daybed testify to the design school’s influence in design.

The incomparable view over the roofs of Berlin, the Brandenburg Gate and the Gendarmenmarkt to the television tower underlines the loft character of the rooms and suites on the upper floors. With the relaunch of the guest rooms, the Berlin Marriott Hotel has completed its extensive modernization. The conference area with a total area of 1,600 square meters was last renovated at the end of 2018.
