Just in time for the start of the World Cup, Accor will open two new Fairmont and Raffles hotels in Qatar in 2022. Their joint home will be a spectacular architectural masterpiece the likes of which the world has never seen before – and the first designs of the interiors also give a hint that these are two exceptional hotels.
The emirate’s future landmark is being built in Lusail – a new district north of the centre of Doha, which will also be one of the World Cup venues. Here, the project developer Katara Hospitality has two domed towers rising into the sky from a common base, their design inspired by the traditional scimitars on Qatar’s coat of arms.
This iconic building – called “Katara Towers” – will house a five-star Fairmont hotel with 361 rooms and suites and a six-star Raffles hotel with 132 suites, which will redefine the term “luxury” in Qatar. In addition, there will be 49 apartments, a VIP cinema, several top restaurants and boutiques as well as offices and conference rooms.
