Abu Dhabi reopens to first international visitors

Abu Dhabi is reopening to international travellers: Visitors from “green list” countries have been exempt from quarantine since 24 December 2020, if they can show a negative PCR test conducted within 96 hours prior to departure. In addition, a second test is performed on all visitors upon arrival at the airport. Results are expected within 90 minutes.

The “green list” is based on current Covid 19 infection figures and will be updated on an ongoing basis. Currently, only 16 countries are on it. Germany, Austria and Switzerland are not included for the time being. However, Abu Dhabi is opening up to visitors from destinations that are not on the list. They must then isolate themselves for ten days. The current list can be found here.

Like Dubai, Abu Dhabi is currently considered one of the safest destinations in the world. Both emirates have managed to limit the spread of Covid-19 infections with strict regulations. For example, the rate of confirmed cases among all tests conducted in Abu Dhabi is currently only 0.39 percent. At the same time, the “Go Safe” certification guarantees that hotels, restaurants, cultural sites, entertainment venues and shopping malls fully comply with safety standards.
