Hyatt separates from Park Hyatt Mallorca: reopening as “Cap Vermell Mallorca” in 2021

Hyatt is saying goodbye to the popular Park Hyatt Mallorca after only four years: The resort near Canyamel, which has been closed since 15 March 2020, will no longer receive guests this year. The Cap Vermell Group as an investor now wants to operate it itself, but does not plan to reopen under the new name “Cap Vermell Mallorca” in March 2021.

The Park Hyatt Mallorca was built for around EUR 100 million in the style of a mountain village on the quiet northeast coast of Mallorca and opened in June 2016 as the first resort of the “Park Hyatt” brand in Europe. As reported by several Mallorcan media outlets, Hyatt has since lost interest in this prestigious project because – contrary to original expectations – it could not be operated at full cost all year round.

Around 50 minutes from the airport, the resort nestles against the slopes of the idyllic Canyamel valley with a view of the sea. The extensive complex comprised 126 rooms and 16 suites with a size between 50 and 150 square meters, two heated outdoor pools and five restaurants grouped around the village square – the “Plaza de la Torre”. Here, specialties from Mallorca, authentic tapas and dishes from China, India, Thailand and Southeast Asia were served.

The spa had seven treatment rooms, two of which have their own terrace for couples. There was a choice of treatments specially created for the hotel with local products such as minerals, herbs, fruits and salts. The only alpha-quartz sand bed on the island, a Himalayan salt sauna, steam baths, sensory showers, a vitality pool and a fitness center rounded off the facilities.

Last but not least, the Park Hyatt Mallorca offered its guests free access to all facilities of the 49 hectare real estate project “Cap Vermell” – for example to the “Beach Club” on the beach of Canyamel and to the “Country Club” in the immediate vicinity, just ten minutes away a multifunctional sports field, two tennis courts and a heated indoor and outdoor pool. There are also four golf courses within 15 minutes – including an 18-hole course right next to the resort.
