Amangiri opens a luxury tent camp in the Utah wilderness

For a decade, the Amangiri has been luring the beautiful landscape of Utah with its deep canyons and vermilion rock formations and some of the most beautiful national parks in the United States. On the occasion of this anniversary, the extraordinary luxury resort will now open the gates of the new Camp Sarika by Amangiri in the middle of the wilderness in April 2020.

Camp Sarika derives its name from the Sanskrit word for “open space” and “heaven”. With ten tent pavilions, all of which have small private pools, a restaurant and two spa suites, the idyllic retreat leaves nothing to be desired. Still, guests do have unlimited access to the amenities of the Amangiri, which is only a five-minute drive or a 30-minute walk away.

The all-day restaurant in the main pavilion of the camp offers a breathtaking view from its terrace. The open kitchen with grill serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as snacks and afternoon tea. The two spa suites offer a range of therapies and treatments inspired by traditional Navajo practices.

Possible outdoor activities include desert and mountain hikes on your own network of trails, canyoning, climbing, horse riding, hot air balloon rides and helicopter tours. Every evening, guests come around the campfire to enjoy old stories and immerse themselves deep in the culture of the Navajo Indians, with whom the Amangiri is closely associated, under the starry sky of Utah.

Last but not least, the Colorado Plateau is home to the highest concentration of national parks in the United States – from the Grand Canyon to Bryce Canyon to Zion National Park and Monument Valley Tribal Park. The Amangiri offers private tours to all of these natural wonders, but also boat trips and kayaking on the huge Lake Powell. The resort can be reached by rental car in two and a half to four and a half hours from St. George, Flagstaff, Phoenix or Las Vegas.
