With the Alila Hinu Bay, a new luxury resort of the Hyatt brand Alila opens in May in the legendary incense region of Dhofar in the very south of Oman. On a pristine beach near the town of Mirbat, 96 rooms of 60 square metres and 16 pool villas of 166 to 175 square metres are available.
Designed by Ibrahim Jaidah Architects & Engineers from Oman, the resort presents itself as a fusion of local architectural traditions with contemporary design – characterised by specially designed furniture and artworks with which the best craftsmen in the country were allowed to demonstrate their great skills.
Incense and monsoon season
The Alila Hinu Bay has three restaurants – the “Orchard” with international and Mediterranean dishes, the “Seasalt” with Asian specialities, fish and seafood and the Lobby Lounge with light oriental snacks. A bar by the infinity pool, an “Alila Spa” and a private sandy beach complete the offer. Salalah International Airport is just over an hour’s drive away.
Dhofar delights with lonely dream beaches and picturesque oases in a wild, rugged mountain landscape, but also with historical sites that tell of the millennia-old incense trade. Unique to the Arabian Peninsula is the monsoon season from mid-August to the end of September, when the continuous rain – called “kharif” – transforms the barren desert landscape into flowering meadows. During the rest of the year, however, the desert climate is hot.
