Preferred Hotels & Resorts has announced no fewer than 15 openings for 2021 – from a fine eco-retreat in northern Italy to an Art Deco masterpiece in downtown Chicago, and from the world’s first “super boutique hotel” in London to a modern spa and beach resort on an island in Florida. We briefly present the six most interesting projects here:
Casa di Langa / Piemont
In the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the vineyards of Le Langhe in the northern Italian region of Piedmont, Casa di Langa, a sustainable luxury retreat in a class of its own, will open in spring 2021. The hotel, with its 39 rooms and suites, combines the traditional design of the region with a commitment to carbon neutrality. At the “Fàula Ristorante”, guests can enjoy local specialties with a modern twist – in keeping with the motto “From farm to table”. Cooking classes, workshops at the estate’s wine academy, truffle hunts and art tours round out the offerings. Opening: spring 2021.
The Londoner / London
One of the greenest hotels in the United Kingdom, The Londoner in vibrant Leicester Square aims to be a pioneer when it comes to sustainable luxury. At the same time, the property describes itself as the world’s first “super boutique hotel”: 315 rooms, 35 suites and a tower penthouse overlooking the city are spread over 16 floors. They all feature floor-to-ceiling windows and curated artwork. As many as six levels are below ground. This houses a conference area, a spa with pool, and a movie theatre. In addition, The Londoner offers six restaurants and lounges, as well as a rooftop bar with a fire pit. Opening date: April 2021.
The Wall Street Hotel / New York
Opened in 1874 as a coffeehouse, the Tontine Building on Manhattan’s famed Wall Street is home to the new Wall Street Hotel. The elegant retreat has 180 rooms and suites. Guests enjoy international delicacies in the “JF Restaurant” by star chef John Fraser. There is also a lounge, a bar on the top floor and a terrace overlooking the East River. Electric scooters and Vélosophy comfort bikes are provided free of charge for exploring the “Big Apple.” Afterwards, the “Zeel Spa” invites guests to relax – with treatments directly in the room if desired. Opening: spring 2021.
Pendry Chicago / Chicago
The Pendry Chicago is one of four new Pendry properties that will open their doors for the first time in 2021 as members of the Preferred portfolio. The hotel is housed in the iconic Art Deco Burnham Brothers building in the Loop neighborhood, made famous by its champagne bottle design. Awaiting guests are 364 rooms and suites, as well as a restaurant and bar. Amenities also include a lobby bar and lounge, a rooftop terrace with pool and city views, a fitness and spa area, and an extensive art collection. Opening: spring 2021.
Villa Dagmar / Stockholm
Villa Dagmar is an intimate luxury hotel in Stockholm’s Östermalmstorg district – very close to City Hall. The late 19th-century Art Nouveau building includes 70 rooms and suites, some of which have balconies overlooking the courtyard and orangery. There’s also an organic food store, a concept store with hand-picked designer pieces, a spa and a flower store. At the restaurant, which serves Mediterranean fusion cuisine, Michelin-starred chefs Daniel Höglander and Niclas Jönsson provide culinary delights. The Östermalmshallen market hall is connected to the hotel and easily accessible from there. Opening: spring 2021.
Amrit Ocean Resort & Spa / Florida
The Amrit Ocean Resort & Spa covers more than two and a half acres on the oceanfront on Singer Island in Florida’s Palm Beach County and combines Eastern wellness philosophy and Western technology in its “five pillars wellness concept.” The collaboration with ESPA and the Himalayan Institute enables a combination of mindfulness, nutrition, fitness, relaxation and sleep in a four-story spa. But also awaiting guests are meditation gardens, four restaurants and outdoor Patanjali yoga classes. The 153 rooms and 34 spa suites feature ocean-view terraces and free-standing bathtubs. Opening date: April 2021.
