Zulal Wellness Resort: Chiva-Som comes to Qatar with a new luxury oasis

The Chiva-Som International Health Resort in Hua Hin, Thailand, has enjoyed something like world-class status for more than 25 years. Now the Wellness pioneer comes to Qatar for the first time in 2021: In the new Zulal Wellness Resort Chiva-Som wants to merge Asian and Arabic health philosophies to a completely new approach, which celebrates its world-wide premiere in this form.

The extensive, contemporary designed luxury oasis is located directly at the sea and is not only aimed at classical wellness lovers, but also very consciously at families. For them, 120 rooms and suites are available in the “Family Wellness Resort”, where they can enjoy joint activities. Couples and single travelers are welcomed in the secluded “Wellness Resort” with 60 suites and villas.

“Wellness Design” is the name of the trend that Chiva-Som’s new flagship is taking up against the backdrop of the desert and water in Qatar: simple architecture, soft colors and traditional materials such as sand and gravel are to have a positive effect on the mood of the guests. Earth tones alternate with blue color facets – combined with traditional Arabic patterns. “Design that does good,” is what interior designer Nasser Al Kubaisi of Msheireb Properties calls it.

Lagoons, ponds and water features loosen up the design of the resort – after all, “Zulal” in Arabic stands for “pure water”. Endemic plants such as desert hyacinths and palms create green oases. At the same time, the sand-colored villas blend seamlessly into the desert landscape like dunes. With its open architecture and windows carved in the typical mashrabiye style, the resort resembles the traditional villages in Qatar. An exact opening date has unfortunately not yet been fixed.
