“The Palm Fountain”: Dubai now has the largest water fountains in the world

Dubai has a new superlative attraction, which also brings the emirate another world record: On the artificial island of The Palm, Jumeirah, the largest water fountains in the world were opened on the 22nd of October with “The Palm Fountain”. The spectacle of water, music and light covers 1,300 square meters of sea surface, reaches a height of 105 meters and is bathed in bright colors by more than 3,000 LED spotlights.

Five productions have been prepared for “The Palm Fountain”, which will be accompanied by a total of 20 popular songs from pop to classical music. They each last three minutes and are shown alternately every half hour from 7 p.m. to midnight – daily and free of charge. The breathtaking backdrop is the iconic Hotel Atlantis, The Palm, which is considered one of Dubai’s landmarks. A Video on YouTube gives a first impression.

The best view of “The Palm Fountain” is from “The Pointe”. The 1.5-kilometer-long waterfront promenade with more than 100 restaurants, stores and leisure facilities was opened in late 2018 at the head of The Palm’s “tribe”, Jumeirah. During the winter months, visitors can dine here on the terraces by the sea and admire the water spectacle.

The record for the highest water fountains in the world is still reserved for the “Dubai Fountains” in downtown Dubai: For years, more than 83,000 liters have been shot up to 140 meters into the sky every evening in front of the Burj Khalifa. In terms of size, however, this popular attraction cannot compete with “The Palm Fountain”. And there is one more difference: The “Dubai Fountains” lack the colors…
