Relais & Chateaux welcomes nine new members

The international portfolio of the hotel and restaurant chain Relais & Chateaux has grown by nine new members. Among them are resorts in stunning natural settings such as the Secret Bay in the Caribbean, architectural masterpieces such as the Cirqa in Peru and elegant luxury hotels such as the Grand House in the Algarve. We introduce you here to some briefly:

The Chatham Inn in Chatham (USA) was built at the beginning of the 19th century and thus corresponds to the typical New England style – a feel-good factor guaranteed. In addition, the property is located between the historic center of Chatham and the ocean, making it the perfect starting point for all activities and cultural experiences. According to the values of Relais & Chateaux, Chef Christophe Letard focuses on local ingredients and creates culinary delights. The house has 18 rooms and suites.

The six villas of the Secret Bay on the Caribbean island of Dominica lie in a tropical forest on a cliff above the sea. They were built with sustainable materials and all have a private pool. With a view of unspoiled nature, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and two paradisiacal bays, Secret Bay is the perfect place to escape the stresses of everyday life and unwind.

The Cirqa in Arequipa, Peru is a former monastery dating back to 1540, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Artists from the region restored the property with traditional materials, merging the historic heritage with a modern interior to create an imposing work of art. Unique is also the warm hospitality, which is continued according to the tradition of the monks. Another highlight is the traditional cuisine with locally grown ingredients, which is known for their sharpness. Overall, the hotel has eleven rooms and suites.

The Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort and Spa in French Polynesia opens in April 2020 on a paradisiacal coral island off Bora Bora. The 106 villas and bungalows are all built in Polynesian style using natural and traditional materials and offer stunning views of tropical gardens or the lagoon of Bora Bora. To protect this paradisiacal nature – especially the underwater world – the resort is committed to preserving and building the coral reefs.

The Grand House was the first luxury hotel in the Algarve in 1926. The Belle Epoque city palace is located in the historic center of Vila Real de Santo Antonio, on the banks of the Guadiana River, which marks the border with Spain. The lifestyle of the 1920s and the view of the river carry the guests through the day with infinite ease. A private beach club and a first-class restaurant serve local produce and local fish. Overall, the hotel has 30 rooms and suites.

The Monaci delle Terre Nere in Sicily is a rural property on the slopes of Mount Etna, overlooking a breathtaking landscape that stretches from the volcano to the sea. Stables and an old wine press underline the rural charm. The hotel places a lot of value on environmentally friendly processes. They are also found in the Sicilian cuisine, for which many home-made products are used. There are 24 rooms and suites available to guests.

The Castello Banfi – Il Borgo is a historic fortress in Tuscany with a small village (“Borgo”), whose houses have now been converted into bedrooms. The location in the south of Montalcino amidst vineyards and olive trees is sensational. An Enoteca, a balsameria, a glass museum and several restaurants are located within the chateau, which has 14 rooms and suites.

Surrounded by 2,000 hectares of vineyards, the Chateau Roslane is located in a unique landscape in Meknes (Morocco). The finest materials meet a traditional architectural style – always in harmony with nature. Inside the estate, the senses embark on a journey through the Moroccan culture and get to know the self-produced wine in harmony with traditional dishes. The Chateau offers 13 rooms and suites.

For more than 15 years, Chef Kim Byung Gin has been exploring Korean cuisine at Gaon Restaurant in Seoul, inspired by the season and an exquisite selection of products. From the minimalist decor to the ceramic art created especially for the restaurant, everything is designed so that guests can fully enjoy the experience offered. The Gaon wants to create an aesthetic ideal in which gastronomy, art and crafts come together harmoniously.
