New experiences in Baros Maldives: Island adventures like hundreds of years ago

The Baros Maldives offers every luxury that the guest can wish for. Nevertheless – or perhaps because of it – the resort in the North Male Atoll has come up with so-called “Cast Away Adventures” for its reopening on the 1st of October. The guests can discover the simplicity of the original life on a lonely island and experience how the people on the Maldives once mastered their everyday life.

The “Ocean to Table BBQ Dinner” is one of those special experiences, where you experience how little can mean so much at the same time. The guests leave thereby their observer position and try out even, how a traditional dinner once developed on a deserted sandbank. Fish must be caught and prepared the old-fashioned way before being grilled on an open fire in the style of island castaways.

Adventurers can also improve their survival techniques and learn how to open a coconut without tools and cook it over a fire of dried palm leaves and driftwood – or what food can be found on a deserted island. Only the bill at the end brings the guest back rudely into the present, because a boat trip with traditional fishing, cooking class, BBQ dinner and cast away workshop costs at least USD 900 for two people.

In honor of Baros Maldives, however, it must be mentioned that the perfect Robinson feeling can also be experienced in highly luxurious variations at this legendary resort – for example, a boat trip into the sunset with champagne and canapés or an exclusive dinner on a nearby sandbank, where all delicacies are prepared by private chefs and served by butlers.

Baros Maldives is a member of the “Small Luxury Hotels of the World” and has 75 villas on the beach and above the water, three restaurants, two bars and a PADI dive center. Together with marine biologists from the Marine Center, guests learn more about the sensitive ecosystem and its numerous inhabitants while snorkeling on the house reef. The transfer from Malé International Airport by speedboat takes only 25 minutes.
