Mandarin Oriental Munich opens the newly designed roof terrace

The Mandarin Oriental in Munich has reopened its popular roof terrace with a new design and under a new name: The legendary hotspot with 360-degree views over the city to the Alps now welcomes its guests as the “Mahjong Roof Garden” – furnished with the casual outdoor furniture of the eponymous series from the furniture store Roche Bobois.

The French manufacturer of designer furniture is known for its annual new collections by international artists, but also for its timeless classics. The latter include the popular, constantly reinventing “Mah Jong” modular sofa, designed by German designer Hans Hopfer in the 1970s. The low, freely combinable seating elements are handmade in Italy in a specialised workshop.

The perfect place for balmy summer evenings

The new menu, which has been adapted to the new look of the roof terrace, is also intended to provide a special summer feeling above the rooftops of Munich. The selection ranges from “Mahjong Bowls” to creative starters and heavenly desserts. The new drinks menu also leaves nothing to be desired – whether it’s a creative cocktail, a classic rosé or the specially created “Mahjong Spritz”.

In addition to the lounge with bar, where DJs mix cool summer beats on weekends, the roof terrace of the Mandarin Oriental Munich also features a new infinity pool, sun loungers and lush greenery. It is open from Monday to Friday from 4pm to 10pm and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 12pm to 10pm. However, entry is by reservation only. The “Urban Retreat Arrangement” with use of the sun loungers and pool can be booked daily from 10 am to 4 pm for hotel guests.
