New Hotel Opening

Le Méridien Maldives Resort opens in Lhaviyani Atoll on 1 August

Marriott’s Le Méridien brand is coming to the Maldives for the first time: The new Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa will celebrate its opening on 1 August 2021 on the nine-hectare island of Thilamaafushi in the southwest of Lhaviyani Atoll – marked by a touch of European nostalgia and surrounded by colourful coral reefs with flocks of manta rays and turtles.

In its design, Le Méridien Maldives Resort focuses on a midcentury aesthetic that combines the typical Maldivian flair with elements from the time when travelling in Europe was still associated with a lot of glamour. There is a choice of 154 villas with one or two bedrooms – on the beach or above the lagoon and some also with a private pool.

Overwater Villa from USD 600 per night

Specialities from all over the world are served in the six restaurants and bars. The “Explore Spa by Le Méridien” provides optimal relaxation. Activities at the resort range from a coral conservation project to a cooking class in the greenhouse and a trip to the resort’s own private island, Bodu Finolhu. A Kids Club, a gym with sea view, a yoga pavilion and a creative studio complete the offer.

From Malé International Airport, Le Méridien Maldives Resort can be reached by seaplane in around 35 minutes. Rates start at USD 600 with half board for a “Sunrise Overwater Villa” and at USD 850 for a “Sunset Water Villa” with pool. The all-inclusive package costs USD 100 more. Marriott Bonvoy members can book the hotel in Rewards Category 5 for as little as 35,000 points per night.
