New Hotel Opening

Hôtel du Palais: Hyatt celebrates the reopening of a hotel legend in Biarritz

After an extensive renovation, the legendary Hôtel du Palais in Biarritz has reopened its doors. Built in 1854 by Napoleon III for his wife Eugénie, the palace is located directly on the Atlantic coast in the French Basque Country and has been considered one of the most famous hotels in Europe since 1880, when the seaside resort of Biarritz was still the “beach of kings”.

Today, the Hôtel du Palais is part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt and a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. However, the elegant charm and discreet luxury of the house have survived all changes of times. Precious paintings and tapestries still bear witness to the former splendor of this property – and the elegant Second Empire style in the 86 rooms and 56 suites perfectly reflects the architecture of the palace.

Sea water pool with ocean view

The fine-dining restaurant “La Rotonde” offers locally inspired dishes from the French Basque region, while guests can choose from a select range of gin, whiskey and vintage champagne at the “Napoleon III” bar. The “Imperial Spa” spans 3,000 square meters over four floors and features an indoor pool, a hammam and a sauna. Outside, a seawater pool with cozy cabanas and a view of the ocean beckons.

For the time being, the Hôtel du Palais will be open until 1 November 2021. After completing the final phase of renovation, it will then resume operations in the summer of 2022. With the current opening special, rates start at EUR 369 per room per night (including breakfast). World of Hyatt members can book a room beyond that for 30,000 points per night – or at the Member Rate from EUR 390.
