Hotel Reopening

Fullerton Hotel opens in Sydney’s historic post office

The famous Fullerton Hotel in Singapore will soon have a sister in Sydney: the new Fullerton Hotel Sydney has just opened in the former General Post Office (GPO) at Martin Place # 1. The historic building dating back to 1891 was used by the Australian Post Office until 1996 and later housed The Westin Sydney. In 2017, it was acquired by the Fullerton parent company Sino Group for the equivalent of EUR 93 million and has undergone extensive refurbishment in the last two years.

Located in the heart of the business district and not far from the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge, there are two room concepts to choose from: the traditional Heritage Rooms in the historic Post Office building and the more modern Tower Rooms in an adjoining skyscraper. All 416 rooms and suites are equipped with Harman Kardon Bluetooth speakers and Nespresso coffee machines. Tablets are available for the extensive concierge service.

Level one of the six-story atrium, The Place Restaurant serves modern Australian and Southeast Asian dishes, overlooking the former glass-enclosed courtyard of the GPO. The Bar offers exclusive cocktails such as the Singapore Sling and the new Sydney Sling. The afternoon tea is also served here.

The 1,058-square-foot Grand Ballroom, which can seat up to 1,400 guests, is Sydney’s largest columnless ballroom. Worth seeing is also the “Heritage Ballroom” on the sixth floor with its 11 meter high dome ceiling. A business center, an Executive Club Lounge, a gym and the “Endota Spa” complete the offer. Fullerton Hotel Sydney is a partner of Preferred Hotels & Resorts.
