Can Ferrereta: New boutique hotel in an old manor house on Mallorca

If you want to enjoy Mallorca away from the tourist hustle and bustle, Can Ferrereta is the place to be: the new boutique hotel opens in April this year in the old town of Santanyi in the south-east of the island. In a carefully restored 17th century mansion, 32 rooms and suites have been created, most of which have private terraces.

The Soldevila-Ferrer family, which also owns the award-winning Sant Francesc Hotel Singular in Palma’s old town, is behind the project. In Santanyi, they have succeeded in skilfully combining the character of the old building with a contemporary interior design – simple but comfortable. At the same time, paintings and sculptures by Mallorcan artists decorate the entire hotel. A suite with its own sun deck, garden and pool is also available.

Guests at Can Ferrereta can relax during the day by the 25-metre-long pool surrounded by flowering gardens with cypresses, olive trees, jasmine and bougainvillea, or in the “Sa Calma” spa with indoor pool, gym, sauna and hammam. Next to the pool, a bar and the restaurant “La Fresca” await, serving salads, meat and fish dishes accompanied by an extensive selection of wines and cocktails.

The former wine cellar houses the “Ocre” restaurant. Chef Alvar Albaladejo’s Mediterranean dishes can be enjoyed outside on the terrace or under the 17th century wooden beams and stone arches. Seasonal ingredients are sourced largely from Santanyí’s two weekly markets. Can Ferrereta is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
