Al Qana: Abu Dhabi will receive a new superlative leisure district in 2020

“Al Qana” is the name of a new attraction for the whole family, which is currently being built along a canal near the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi City. Construction work for the leisure and entertainment district should be completed by the end of 2020. The costs are estimated at more than AED 1 billion – the equivalent of around EUR 245 million.

Al Qana stretches along a 2.4 km long waterfront. Four pedestrian bridges connect the two sides of the canal. Highlights include the region’s largest aquarium (“The National Aquarium”), the largest free-standing cinema in Abu Dhabi (“Al Qana Cinema”), the first high-tech zone for virtual reality (VR) in the Emirates, one state-of-the-art e-sports arena and a 4,000 square meter indoor play park for children.

Along the lush green promenade there are restaurants and cafés right on the water, as well as a marina with more than 90 berths. A unique lifestyle and wellness center called “The Bridge” is also planned. As the developer Al Barakah International Investment announced in a press release, all Al Aqana attractions are already rented to well-known operators. However, an opening date has not yet been set.
